Fun for all the family
Looking for inspiration to keep your children interested, so that you can enjoy the gardens? Look no further!
• Music. We have a great programme of music on offer, with something for all tastes. Jazz, brass band, choir, even recorder. You can sit or wander as you listen. In garden #4 you can enjoy an afternoon of performances from local youngsters, and in garden #6 you can have a slice of cake while you listen. Garden #17 even has Bollywood dancing!
• Wildlife. Many of our gardens have ideas for creating a better home for wildlife in your own garden. You’ll find lots of ponds, beautiful old trees and wilder areas. In garden #15, you can find out about the H&I Hedgehog Champions and how you can help our local hedgehogs.
• Barefoot maze. Bring a blindfold and ditch the shoes and socks. In garden #2, you can use your sense of touch to navigate the maze. While you’re there, look out for the sculptures.
• Scavenger Hunt. Head to garden #14.
• Animals. There are always pets to be found. Look out for chickens at #15, and there are sure to be inquisitive cats, watching from the sidelines. Whoever you discover on your travels, remember to give them space, calm and quiet. It’s their home and they need to feel safe.
• Giant garden games and play equipment can be found in gardens #4 and #8.
• A moat with a bridge over to the island. With beautiful woodland to explore, this can only be garden #6.
• History. Find out about local history, from the Village Society, in garden #1 and visit the HI Archaeology Group stall in garden #2.
