This year’s music
There is nothing more magical than enjoying a beautiful summer garden with fantastic live music as your soundtrack, and we are very privileged to have such a wonderful and varied selection this year. Huge thanks to Kathryn Nall, for once again organising such a great programme, and to all of the musicians for very kindly performing.
Here’s what’s on offer:
- Hugh Boyd: explores the sounds of the archtop acoustic guitar, playing a mixture of early jazz, classical and ragtime.
- Sara Morrison:
- Clare House Clarinets – 4/5-piece clarinet choir, playing a variety of styles, including Classical, Latin, jazz, swing and pop.
- Sax Quartet – playing predominantly swing, jazz, Latin and blues, with a smattering of musical theatre, pop and funk.
- Clive and Louise (Pearce): Classical Guitar Duo from South Bucks. Their programme includes items in a variety of musical styles from Baroque to Classical music, also including some Spanish music and some popular contemporary items.
- The Impingtones, Sue Leeway: A friendly community choir that meets once a week to experience the pleasure of singing together. They sing mostly pop, folk and musical scores and aim to be a fun choir for anyone with or without previous singing experience
- The Klass String Quartet, Louise Gosling: An eclectic mix of classic, modern and traditional music from across the ages and the globe.
- Recorder Music, Patricia Davies: Everything from Early Music to Jazz to popular music and songs from the shows.
- Histon Brass Ensemble: An enthusiastic group of brass players with local connections! They play a wide variety of music ranging from baroque, through classical to traditional marches and contemporary music.
Finally, we have two additions, not listed in the programme:
- Pete Bull (Violin) & Dan Ecclestone (Piano): with music from the great American Songbooks (garden #15).
- A selection of music (drum, piano and guitar) from local music students, many of whom are students at the village primary and secondary schools (garden #4).
Consult your programme for the music locations. The timings of performances will be released a few days before the event, on our website and social media. On the day, we will also post them at the information hub on the green, and on our app.
